We have announced before on our newspage, but today finally was the day my dear friend from Norway Steinar Saetre visited us at home.
He is in Holland to collect the birds that were brought together in January by Rikus Hagenauw. He stays with Rikus and his family, and visits as much lofts as he can to learn about the breeding methods the Dutch breeders use to get the best results possible. Rikus is driving him around the whole of Holland to show hem. Good job, Rikus!
Earlier on we already made a page about Steinar, where we described his love for the Holle Cropper. Everytime we made we come to the same conclusion, we must be crazy to love a pigeonbreed this much, but than again, it is one of the most beautiful animals created ever!!
The fact that he's here again, only confirms this story. After the show Danny and me give with the Thief Pouters it's time to show what we do in the breeding pens with the Holles.
Steinar was very anxiuous to learn about the Holle, wants to see everything we do, and have the explanations about what we do. So we show him the oldest youngs already in the young birds loft. When we come to the breeding pens of the Holles in the garage, there's a real round of questions, he really makes the effort to learn about all we do, and decide if it is good for his methods to copy what we do. He especially is interrested in the way we keep our birds in the breeding pens, the possibilities it gives to come to the best possible breeding results and also how to bring up youngs with our handfeeding methods.
Most of all I am very glad to have met you again, seeing you in good health and to hear your family is alright. I'd like to thank Rikus along with that, he's doing a great job making it all possible for Steinar to drive around and see as many as he can.
